Greeley City Council approves $75K settlement with interim finance director

By Kelly Ragan

Greeley City Council voted to approve a new interim finance director and essentially approve a $75,000 severance package to the outgoing one.

Council appointed Debbie Reid to the position of interim finance director and interim ex-officio city treasurer while it undertakes a search for a new director.

She took over for Tammy Hitchens, who was hired on as the deputy director of the finance department Dec. 13, 2021 and appointed to interim finance director June 14, 2023.

Hitchens’ employment ended after “electing not to continue with her employment contract,” according to city documents.

Hitchens is set to receive a $75,000 settlement, which she can claim as backpay, and will receive $25,206 in unused paid time off.

Her departure comes on the heels of delays to the city’s annual auditing process.
